The Panel regularly produces a set of publications to inform the public of its most recent activities and as part of its outreach activities. The Panel produces an Annual Report, which includes summaries of ongoing Requests, past Requests, and outreach activities undertaken during a given fiscal year.
The Panel also produced two books, the first entitled “The World Bank Inspection Panel: The First Four Years (1994-1998) ” and the second entitled “Accountability at the World Bank: The Inspection Panel 10 Years On”. They each contain information about the Panel’s enabling Resolution and subsequent Clarifications, its history and process, eligibility requirements for a Request, case studies of selected Requests, and charts and figures listing the Panel’s activities up to the date of publication. While the first book is out of print, the second is free and available upon request. The second book has been published in English and translated into French, Portuguese, and Spanish. You may also find a selected list of Inspection Panel related articles and publications posted under the Other Publications link.
In addition, the Panel has created a guide for Bank staff entitled “Staff Guide to the World Bank Inspection Panel”. The guide is designed to familiarize staff with the Panel process. We also have a brochure targeting civil society, entitled “Inspection Panel: We can help make your voice be heard”. The civil society brochure contains information on Panel procedures, which include, how to submit Request; the eligibility criteria mandated by the Panel’s enabling Resolution, and a suggested format for a Request for Inspection. In order to broaden the Panel’s scope globally, the brochure was produced in English with translations in eleven other languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, and Urdu.
