Course description: This course will provide an overview of available data sources and aggregate indicators, WITS (World Integrated Trade Solutions), TRIST (Tariff Reform Impact Simulation Tool), and partial equilibrium modeling to analyze the impact of trade policy changes on trade flows, fiscal revenue, and economic output and welfare (aggregate and diaaggregated).  The course will also present an introduction to (static and dynamic) general equilibrium modeling, to allow participants a better understanding of the strengths and limitations of their assumptions and results. iven the hands-on nature of this course that entails exercises and simulations in a computer lab, maximum number of participants that can be accommodated is 14.
Target audience: Government officials in the core economic and trade ministries and academic trade researchers and trainers with an educational background in economics (B.S. minimum; M.S. and Ph.D. preferred), involved in analyzing and advising policymakers on the economic and financial impact of policy reforms. The course may also be of interest to World Bank coutnry and trade economists, as well as equivalent staff of various donor agencies.
