New Staff Diabetics Group

Staff who have diabetes, or who have family members with diabetes, are creating a Staff Diabetics Group to provide an informal, confidential forum for information-sharing and mutual support.

The network grew out of conversations among staff and retirees who found it helpful to share information about treatments, products, and strategies for managing blood-sugar levels—and to learn more about doctors, hospitals and other resources in the Washington area from people with first-hand experience. These staff felt that it might be encouraging for other diabetics to share experiences with colleagues who face similar daily challenges.

The Staff Diabetics Group is open to all Bank and Fund staff and retirees who are diabetic, or who have family members with diabetes.

Meetings will take place on the first Thursday of every month, 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Room MC5-303. The next meeting is scheduled for November 7. The emphasis of the meetings will be on person-to-person exchange, but sessions will also include expert resources from inside and outside the Bank Group.

To find out more about the network—or to be put on a confidential e-mail distribution list for information—contact Bart Servaes (202-458-0968; bservaes@worldbank.org) or Teng-Hong Cheach (202-458-0734; tcheah@worldbank.org). Please distribute this message to other Bank Group retirees: one never knows who might want or need the information.
