The 1818 Society's Annual Meeting was successfully concluded on October 14. This year Annual Meeting events covered two days. On October 13, two special seminars on pensions and the medical insurance plan were held, giving Society members a greater opportunity to be informed about these important matters, and also to ask detailed questions concerning them. They were both well attended. An audio recording of the seminars will be posted soon.
On October 14, a special program on Navigating the World Bank's External Web Site afforded an opportunity for Society members to learn how better to locate information on the Bank's external web site. Later, Sumir Lal from External Affairs gave Society members an engrossing report on the results of the recent Bank-Fund Annual Meetings. During the Business Meeting that followed, amendments to The 1818 Society's By-Laws were unanimously adopted, and Carroll Long, Hugh Henry-May, and Sverrir Sigurdsson were elected to the 1818 Society's Board of Directors. An audio-visual recording of the Business Meeting will be posted soon. After the Business Meeting, Society members were able to socialize at the traditional cocktail reception and buffet dinner.
