Conversion Plan after Ending Continuation MIP - Enroll

Summary:

Anyone ending MIP Continuation coverage may enroll in a Conversion Plan. Eligibility is automatic, i.e., no medical underwriting.

Considerations for Enrollment
Conversion Plan coverage is significantly less than the coverage under MIP and conversion insurance is expensive because it assumes a high degree of medical risk. Premiums and plan availability differ depending on where the insured lives.
  • U.S. Residents may enroll in an insurance plan with Aetna.
  • Non U.S. Residents may elect only Vanbreda, as Aetna is available only to U.S. residents. Vanbreda offers 2 options:

    1. Conversion plan that includes global and US coverage;
    2. Conversion plan for just non-US coverage.
      Note:
      Both Vanbreda coverage options are limited to two years.

01 For members ending Continuation MIP with Aetna - Receive the Conversion information sent to you by Aetna Direct Billing when your Continuation MIP period ends. If needed, contact Aetna's Conversion Customer Service at 215-775-4800.

For members ending Continuation MIP with Vanbreda - Contact Vanbreda via email MCC200@vanbreda.com or phone + 32 3 217 5766 to request the Conversion Plan.
02 Submit the completed Conversion Plan documentation to your insurance provider. You must apply before the deadline or you lose your opportunity to enroll:
  • Aetna - within 31 days of losing Continuation MIP coverage.
  • Vanbreda - before the end of Continuation MIP coverage.
