| The WBFN Book Project receives, packs and distributes donated books to educational institutions in developing countries. All this work is done by dedicated volunteers who are spouses/partners of staff members or retirees of the World Bank group and the IMF. Approximately 10 volunteers per day sort, stamp and pack books and carry out the administrative tasks associated with preparing for a shipment of books. We send an average of four shipments per year. In FY 2006, Book Project volunteers contributed over 7,000 hours of work. Volunteers come at their convenience and work for as many hours as they can: no long term commitment is needed.  Book Project volunteers include former teachers, principals, doctors and mothers who care about children’s educational needs. The Book Project offers an opportunity to get hands-on experience in a charitable organization while meeting new people and learning about other cultures. Invariably, over lunch you find groups engrossed in interesting conversations, sharing experiences and stories gathered from different parts of the world. It’s a melting pot of sorts, where you make new friends and get exposed to a wealth of experience while contributing your time to a good cause. Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday between 10.00am and 3.00pm
