“So many thanks for “opening the door and turning on the light” regarding financial literacy! Your course was inspirational. And I know that although I can wish I had been made fully aware of the needs for better financial understanding many (many!) years ago, I am sure I will still benefit from knowledge just gained but more importantly it is knowledge and simple methods learnt which I know I can now pass on to my children.
Thank you—you are doing a wonderful service and giving so many people confidence in an area which most of us have little appreciation for the profound impact it can have on our lives i.e. financial literacy.” Helen Aitken WBFN member and former class participant |

What are “Distance Learning Courses” or “e-learning courses”?

 |
| WBFN in conjunction with the World Bank offers two “distance learning” courses on personal finance. These are “online” courses and can be taken wherever you are. Spouses in Country Offices are welcome to sign up. All you need is a computer and Internet access. Participants in Washington may use WBFN Office computers and attend an optional, but recommended, introductory class at the Bank on the first day of the course which explains “e-learning”, the course materials, and the computer program. There is a course materials fee. Each course lasts approximately 5 weeks. |

“What prompted me to take this course is that I have virtually no idea about finances, etc. having always left that to my husband. I am now ready to learn.”
“This class is a good opportunity for me to finally organize our finances; as an African, it's very difficult to have a budget because of lots of solicitations.” WBFN members and former class participants |
