Baby Shower Tradition: a Newcomer's Experience

Thank you very much to WBFN for organizing the great baby shower for Christinne and me on Monday, April 18th. Coming from Austria I didn’t know about baby showers, which is a wonderful American tradition. It was a delightful, new experience for me.
About 20 WBFN members gathered at the WBFN office to celebrate with Christinne and myself the imminent arrival of our two babies. I was surprised by the many funny baby shower games. We formed two groups around two expecting mothers to start a little friendly game competition. I am proud to say my group won! However, Christinne’s group was excellent too. One challenge, I liked very much, was to estimate Christinne’s and my belly girth. Each group got a ribbon and had to cut it at the length of our estimated belly circumference. Another funny game was to draw a baby on a sheet of paper which was placed on the top of our heads. Guessing the flavor of baby foods, competing to sort baby socks by color, racing to hang laundry while talking on a cell phone and holding a teddy bear were some of the other fun games.
After this challenging competition Christinne and I received so many cute presents for our babies. It was amazing how generous all of you had been. WBFN is for me like a new big family.
Thank you.
