affiliated with the World Bank Family Network. Many World Bank spouses volunteer yearly to raise funds for these grants.
 Through fundraising events, most notably its annual MMMF International Arts & Crafts Fair, and through direct appeals and fund management the MMMF continues to grow. It is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit charity based in Washington DC. Contributions are tax deductible in the U.S. to the extent allowable by law under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
 In 1983 the MMMF awarded its first grant. Since then, the MMMF has helped 142 women from 58 developing countries pursue graduate studies in the U.S. and Canada. In 2005 the MMMF began exploring ways to expand its scholarship program to include study in developing country universities. Since 2007, pilot grants were awarded to nine students studying in South Africa. |
