Mr. Laporte, a French national, joined the Bank in 1985 as Education Economist in the MENA Projects Department. He has worked extensively in the human development sectors and in the knowledge and learning field. He has held various positions in the Regions, the HD Network, and WBI, his most recent assignment being Manager of the Human Development Division in the World Bank Institute.
In this new position Mr. Laporte’s top three priorities will be: (1) develop flagship learning programs with reputed international partners in key areas of strategic priority, integrating state-of-the-art technology and multimedia to reach multiple target audiences; (2) build and support partnerships with networks of practitioners and with regional and national centers of excellence in key thematic areas to customize and deliver flagship programs; and (3) coordinate WBI’s integration with the networks, leveraging Bank wide expertise in key thematic areas.
