Carl Dahlman is lead specialist in the Bank's knowledge products and outreach division. He was the director of the World Development Report 1998/99: Knowledge for Development. Prior to this, he was sector leader for finance in private sector development for Mexico, as well as the Bank's resident representative in that country. He also served as manager of strategy and policy in the private sector development department, where he co-authored a joint publication with the U.S. National Research Council, Marshaling Technology for Development.
Mr. Dahlman has also been chief of industry development and senior industrial economist in the Bank's industry and energy department. He is the author of numerous studies on the links between technological development and growth.
