The following project was approved today by the World Bank's Board:
CREDIT AMOUNT: IDA -US$125 million equivalent TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 40 years PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project will help to achieve sustainable improvements in the delivery of urban water and sanitation services in unserved and low-income areas of Dakar and secondary cities. The project will aid in, among other things, removing major water production and distribution capacity constraints with the help of private sector financing; supporting rehabilitation of sewerage networks and increasing waste water treatment capacity; implementing a community-based program for developing on-site and semi-collective sanitation services; and supporting capacity development of sector agencies, communities and households.
