Tapping into Indigenous Wisdom in Africa

May 18, 2001 — African development experts and American scientists met World Bank officials in Washington this week to look at ways of tapping into the vast storehouse of African local knowledge in areas such as medicine and agriculture. The meeting aims to build on the Bank’s growing interest in enlisting homegrown knowledge in the fight against poverty.
