October 25, 2001 — In recent weeks, much of the world’s attention has been drawn to the plight of the thousands of Afghan refugees who are huddling in camps along Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan. This week, health experts warned that those refugees now face a growing threat from tuberculosis, or TB, a disease that has long afflicted poor and vulnerable groups across the globe.
