Transition: The First Ten Years

January 15, 2002 — Ten years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the transitional economies of former communist countries have experienced widely ranging growth outcomes. According to a new report issued by the World Bank, entitled Transition: The First Ten Years, barriers to the creation of new firms are a critical obstacle to economic growth.
