Youth and HIV/AIDS in Africa Today

December 17, 2002 — Today, Africa counts 12 million children that are AIDS orphans. As the life expectancy on the continent continues to fall, and 9,000 Africans are infected by HIV every day, these numbers are expected to swell for years to come. The future course of the HIV/AIDS epidemic depends on the efforts mounted today to prevent infection among young people.
