| January 15, 2003 — War, famine, disease, corruption. These words define the image we have of Africa today…. and the reality we know. But a parallel and equally true reality of Africa also exists, and it is one that includes the region’s wealth of mineral resources, entrepreneurship, technological advances and social progress. A photo exhibit called ‘Africa in Pictures’ opened at the World Bank last week to show a more balanced image of Africa today, with emphasis on the Africa we do not know.
