Caribbean Community: Caribbean Mainstreaming Adaptation to Climate Change Project

Date: April 17, 2003
GEF TRUST FUND GRANT AMOUNT:  US$ 5 million
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  Some Caribbean countries, small islands and low-lying states are economically, socially and environmentally vulnerable, and climate change variations will exacerbate this vulnerability.  Such climate shocks are expected to result in loss of livelihood, and to affect the region's resource base, damaging natural ecosystems and also infrastructure. In this context, the main objective of this project is to facilitate the creation of an environment for climate change adaptation in the Caribbean Community's small island and coastal developing states. Countries participating in the project are: Antigua & Barbuda; Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Dominica; Grenada; Guyana; Jamaica; St. Kitts; St. Lucia; St. Vincent & the Grenadines; Trinidad & Tobago.
