PROJECT DESCRIPTION: To support Cambodia’s development strategy and its continued recovery, the power sector needs to confront issues related to efficiency, institutional structure and electricity coverage. To that end, the objectives of the Rural Electrification and Transmission Project are to reduce poverty and support the foundations for sustainable development. The project will seek to accomplish these objectives by providing the economic benefits of electricity; and improving power sector efficiency through consolidating restructuring efforts, reducing electricity costs, and removing infrastructure bottlenecks.
