India: World Bank Brings Clean And Safe Water To Urban Residents In Karnataka

WASHINGTON, April 8, 2004 — With the approval today of a US$39.5 million loan to the Indian southern state of Karnataka,  the World Bank will enhance the efficiency, management, and delivery of water supply and sanitation to the state’s urban residents. 

The Karnataka Urban Water Sector Improvement Project supports the Government of Karnataka in launching its urban water sector reform process, and in demonstrating that continuous, efficient and sustainable water service provision can be achieved.
