| WASHINGTON, June 29, 2004—The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board:
CREDIT AMOUNT: US$25 million
TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 20 years
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project aims to support the Government of Bolivia’s social development agenda, by helping maintain progress in the social sectors and improve access of the poor to basic services in health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, and social protection in a time of fiscal crisis. This Program will also help Bolivia achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by reducing disparities in outcomes across different regions, ethnic groups and income groups. It will also make social programs more effective and sustainable, with greater results orientation and accountability, through increased civil society engagement.
