Laurence Carter, a British national, came to IFC in 1993 after 10 years of working as an economist in several countries in Southern Africa and in St. Helena. Since joining IFC, Laurence has worked in the Corporate Planning Department, Central and Eastern Europe Department (based in Poland and Moscow leading IFC's financial markets business), as the Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Department and most recently, as the Director of the Infrastructure Advisory Department. Laurence holds degrees in economics from the Universities of Cambridge and London, as well as the CFA. He is also a former Fellow of the Overseas Development Institute in London.
