Sao Tome and Principe: Governance Capacity Building Technical Assistance Project

WASHINGTON, October 14, 2004,  - The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board:

CREDIT AMOUNT: US$5 million

TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 40 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project aims to modernize and strengthen capacity in economic management and supervision.  It will build up basic institutional and legal infrastructure in the finance and the natural resources and environment ministries to cope with a more complex economic and social environment arising from the onset of petroleum production and a nascent market economy.
