Cambodia: Basic Education Project

WASHINGTON, May 12, 2005- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA CREDIT AMOUNT: $28 million

TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 40 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project aims to expand access to educational services by addressing supply, demand, quality, and efficiency constraints, with special focus on the poor and underserved communes. The project has the following three components: support the Education Facilities Development Program providing lower secondary schools; focus on strategic interventions around decentralized quality improvement in order to encourage right-age enrollment; and address the implementation of additional selected interventions.
