WASHINGTON, June 28, 2005 -- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:
IDA CREDIT AMOUNT: $50 million
TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 40 years
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This credit aims to enhance the quality of basic education and strengthen the administration of the government’s Education National Targeted Program. This program targets areas of the country where schools fall below minimum standards and outcome indicators are correspondingly low. The main beneficiary groups include poor children, ethnic minorities, girls and children with disabilities.
