Accountability, Governance, and Quality of Decentralized Education in Africa: Participants

The course was organized for officials from all levels of government, policymakers, NGO staff, and private sector actors who are involved in the design and implementation of education quality and decentralization policies.

The program provided participants with:

  • A conceptual framework for understanding decentralized systems and analyzing the policy issues, choices and options for decentralization in their countries;
  • Comparative diagnostic tools for exploring the similarities and differences between the various courses of actions countries have taken and are taking;
  • Content knowledge on education quality, education finance, accountability structures, and various management models and approaches to assess the effectiveness of the decentralization process;
  • Opportunities for dialogue and peer learning, and for exploring the possibilities for applying those lessons learned to decentralization policies and practices in ones own country

This course consisted of six country teams from Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi and Liberia. For more information, please contact the course facilitator for country listed below.
