Benin: Third Poverty Reduction Support Credit

WASHINGTON, November 2, 2006- The following projects was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

IDA CREDIT:    US$30 million

TERMS: Grace Period= 10 years; Maturity= 40 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The objective is to support the implementation of Benin's Poverty Reduction Strategy Credits (PRSC) and to strengthen the Government's capacity to design and carry out its own development and poverty reduction programs. Broadly, PRSCs focus on policies and reforms with the highest poverty impact and where IDA has a comparative advantage.
