 Guy De Poerck

Guy De Poerck is Vice President, Information Solutions Group and Chief Information Officer of the World Bank. He is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting Information Technology and Information Management solutions to the World Bank Group’s more than 100 locations globally, in support of the Bank’s mission to alleviate poverty through sustainable economic development.  These solutions include global communications, computing and communications infrastructure, integrated business systems, and information management and delivery including Library and Records Management. Mr. De Poerck’s current priorities including consolidating and strengthening the Bank’s IT efforts and management; working closely with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to integrate IT platforms and delivery of services across the World Bank Group, and building a strategy for expanding the Bank Group’s role in providing IT policy advice and assistance to our development partners.

 

Previously, Mr. De Poerck served as CIO of IFC since 1997, where he was responsible for determining the corporate IT Strategy and its implementation, in support of IFC’s business lines. He managed a full range of IT and IM, including front-line to back-office business applications, collaboration tools, telecommunications and systems infrastructures covering HQ (Washington) and in excess of 100 offices worldwide, using extensively an outsourcing and offshoring model for Delivery.

 

Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Mr. De Poerck served as IT Director at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), London (1991-1997); Deputy General Manager of Banque Privee Edmond de Rothschild, Luxembourg; and Vice President and Operations Manager of a US bank in Frankfurt. His previous experience includes assignments in Belgium, Spain, England, the USA and Japan. He holds a Licence en Sciences Commerciales et Financieres, with specialization in Auditing and Banking, from IESC, Brussels; and is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
