August 6, 2007 - World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick meets with Ha Giap Hung, a farmer of Tay ethnicity. He has 3000 square meters of farm land on the opposite side of a local stream. With a bridge built with World Bank assistance, he can go to his fields everyday, even during flooding season. He could also afford a motorbike. Now that he has electricity, he can also use an electric pump for his fields. He also has a television, and a fan for the hot days.

August 6, 2007 - World Bank President, Robert B. Zoellick visits the 220KV substation in Yen Bai province. The substation built under the System Efficiency Improvement, Equitization and Renewable Project. The substation is a crucial middle point of the 220KV link between China and Vietnam. The station has proved to be effective in stabilizing the regional transmission network, reducing losses, improving power supply quality and meeting the growing energy demand of northern mountainous provinces. The project has helped Vietnam improve rural electrification program under which 92% of households nationwide now have access to electricity.

August 7, 2007 - World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick meets students from a welding class at Hanoi Industrial Vocational College. Some of the students are orphans, coming from poor backgrounds, and some have disabilities. The class was funded by Vietnam Innovation Day, an initiative of the World Bank.

August 7, 2007 - World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick(l.) with Mr. Nguyen Trung(c.) and Andreas Binder(r.), representative from Mercedes Benz, co-sponsor of the Vietnam Innovation Day. Mr. Nguyen Trung was one of the first participants of this project. He now owns a mechanics shop.
