Conditional Cash Transfer Program

For the past five years, the United Nations has instituted the UN South-South collaboration. This year it turned out to be a South/North collaboration as the mighty metropolis, New York City, adopted a development program created by developing nations.

Called Conditional Cash Transfer, it is a big success in Brazil, Bangladesh and Mexico where it is helping thousands of families. An Initiative to Achieve Education for All

The Fast track Initiative (FTI), a global partnership between donors and 32 developing countries aims to have all six-year-olds enrolled in Grade One by 2010. This is an important step to reach the Millennium Development Goal of universal primary education for all children by 2015.

 

Desmond Bermingham, Head of FTI Secretariat and Charles Aheto-Tsegah, Acting Director for Planning, Budgeting, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of Education of Ghana, are at the FTI conference in Dakar, Senegal.
