Mexico – Climate Change Development Policy Loan (DPL)

WASHINGTON, April 8, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IBRD Loan: US$501.2 million

TERMS: Maturity= 10 years Grace= 10 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The objective of this project is to support the Government of Mexico’s efforts under its National Climate Change Strategy (NCCS) to mainstream climate change considerations in public policy. The project will provide overall budget support in recognition of the significant contribution that the NCCS will make to Mexico’s development agenda. The Strategy establishes the framework and represents the vital first steps for confronting the challenges of climate change in a comprehensive and integrated fashion. Development was a national effort and a major undertaking by several Ministries, coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT).
