Republicof Congo: Congo Health Sector Services Development Project

WASHINGTON, May 29, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA Grant: USD$40 Million

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The objective of the Congo Health Sector Services Development Project is to support the Government in the strengthening of the health system in order to effectively combat the major communicable diseases and improve access to quality services for women, children and other vulnerable groups. There are four components to the project. The first component of the project is strengthening leadership capacities in managing a functioning and decentralized health system. The second component of the project is development and implementation of an efficient and effective system for managing human resources for health (HRH). The third component of the project is rehabilitation and equipment of health facilities. The fourth and the final component of the project is improvement of access to a package of quality essential health services (PSE).
