Indonesia: Geothermal Power Generation Development Project

WASHINGTON, May 29, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

GEF Trust Fund Grant: USD$ 4Million

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Geothermal Power Generation Development Project aims to promote the expansion of economic and environmentally friendly geothermal power generation in Indonesia, and to reduce Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the power system. There are four components to the project. The first component is the policy framework for scaling-up the development of geothermal power. The second component is transactions management for mobilizing investments in geothermal power generation. The third component is geothermal sector technical capacity building. Finally, the fourth component is project management assistance.
