Solomon Islands: Sustainable Energy Project

WASHINGTON, July 8, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA Grant: US$4 million

Program Description:  The project aims to improve operational efficiency, system reliability and financial sustainability of the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) through improved financial and operational management, reduction of losses, and increased revenue collection. Technical assistance support to SIEA will also be provided through consultancy services, technical training program for engineering staff, and the establishment of a partnership with the Fiji Electricity Authority.
