Mexico Information Technology (IT) Industry Development Project

WASHINGTON, July 10, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IBRD LOAN:   US$80 million

TERMS: Maturity = Commitment-linked bullet repayment;* Grace Period = 10 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  The project will assist the Government in implementing an alternative strategy for the Development Program for the Software Industry (PROSOFT) to foster the creation of jobs in Mexican IT Companies by improving their competitiveness and efficiency through access to: (a) a larger supply of trained personnel; (b) technologies, quality standards and global marketing networks of multinational corporations; and (c) private debt finance.
