WASHINGTON, March 17, 2009 - The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors: IDA Credit: US$81 Million PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project for Bangladesh aims to improve the quality and relevance of the teaching and research environment in higher education institutions through encouraging both innovation and accountability in universities, and by enhancing the technical and institutional capacity of the higher education sector. There are four components to the project: promoting academic innovation; building institutional capacity; raising the connectivity capacity of the higher education sector; and project management support.
