WASHINGTON DC, March 31, 2009—The World Bank predicts sharply lower growth in developing countries in 2009 and a weak recovery in 2010, reflecting economic deterioration in almost every country in the world. In its Global Economic Prospects update, the World Bank halved its November 2008 projection for 2009, saying the world is witnessing one of the sharpest global economic contractions in modern history.
