World Bank Triples Funding to Help World's Poorest

The global food crisis is not over, warn leaders at the World Bank. Today the Bank announced that its investment in programs for the world’s poorest people will triple,
to 12 billion US dollars, in the next two years.

WASHINGTON DC, April 21, 2009—The global food crisis is not over, warn leaders at the World Bank. Today the Bank announced that its investment
in programs for the world’s poorest people will triple, to 12 billion US dollars, in the next two years.
That includes money to help the poorest get through the food price crisis. The goal is to protect the people who don’t have enough of a cushion to protect themselves.
