WASHINGTON, September 10, 2009 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project: IDA Credit: US$75 million Terms: Maturity = 20 years; Grace Period = 10 years Project ID: P087145 Project Description: The Second Community Development and Livelihood Improvement Project aims to support the government of Sri Lanka’s strategy for enhancing incomes and the quality of life of poor households in the poorest divisions in the country through: (i) empowering the poor and developing and strengthening participatory institutions of the poor; (ii) improving access of the poor to basic social and economic infrastructure and services and support for productive activities; and (iii) the development of policies, rules, systems, procedures and institutional arrangements that will allow the government to transfer funds directly to communities and local governments.
