Bent R. Svensson is the Program Manager of the Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR). He has managed this Public-Private Partnership between the World Bank, industry and governments since its inception in 2003. He is also Lead Energy Economist in the Sustainable Development Department – Gas, Oil Mining, and has provided policy advice on oil and gas and related issues to around 40 countries. Prior to joining the Bank in 1991, Bent R. Svensson was a Gas Policy Expert at the International Energy Agency, OECD, Earlier, he was Head of Finance and Economics Division in KOMGAS (Regional Natural Gas Companies in Denmark), responsible for analyses for contract negotiations for gas purchases, investments and costs analyses of the introduction of natural gas in Denmark, and for co-ordination of the regional gas companies’ international borrowing. Holds an M. Sc. (Econ.) from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
