Following up on the last meeting (held in Washington in October 2010) the World Bank organized the VIII Meeting of the Global Remittance Working Group in Washington D.C., on April 15, 2011. The event convened governmental authorities, other international organizations and members of the private sector to discuss the recent updates on the international effort towards the reduction of costs for remittances and actions moving forward. The meeting hosted also a Special Session on “Innovative Financing and International Remittances”.
