Corporate Procurement

The Corporate Procurement Unit of the World Bank Group is committed to creating an environment that fosters open, global, and transparent competition for the goods and services utilized by the Bank in its worldwide operations.

The World Bank Group spends approximately $700 million a year for products and services for its own internal requirements. Most Bank Group procurement is conducted by the Bank's Corporate Procurement Unit (GSDPR). Very small purchases may be made directly by World Bank Group managers. The World Bank's Procurement Policy governs all procurement made for or on behalf of the Bank Group.

Our goal is to obtain the best overall value for the World Bank Group through competitive processes that are fair to all vendors. Depending on the Bank Group's needs, GSDPR issues Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Invitations for Bids (IFBs.)  For small purchases, purchase orders may be issued without formal competition.

The World Bank Group is a socially and environmentally responsible organization.  As such, the World Bank Group addresses, in its procurement process, vendors' commitment to fair wages and benefits, safety, environmental programs, and diversity of its supply chain.

Suppliers should note that the World Bank Group is not an agency of the United States Government and, therefore, is not subject to federal, state, or local procurement regulations.
