The 2008 Small States Forum was held on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington, DC. Chaired by the Hon. Prof. Peter H. Katjavivi, Director General, National Planning Commission, Republic of Namibia, the Forum’s theme was "Regional Cooperation & Approaches: Policies, Practice, Prospects."
Presentations by senior officials of small states, the World Bank, and the Commonwealth Secretariat(see speaker bios) and discussions centered on the Small States Network for Economic Development, the Isle of Man’s proposed training initiative for financial sector and public financial management staff of small states, the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery, the prospects for regional cooperation in the cone of southern Africa, and Samoa’s experience with telecommunications reform.
