WASHINGTON, June 9, 2009 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project: IDA Grant: US$45 million equivalent Project ID: P112998 Project Description: The Public Works and Urban Management Project for Burundi aims to increase access to basic socio economic services in target areas and to provide short-term employment opportunities. This will be achieved through demand-based and infrastructure investments programs covering urban centers of all provinces and targeted municipal support programs to strengthen municipal management and fiscal performance at the local level in the three main cities of Bujumbura, Gitega, and Ngozi.
