DGF Financed Programs

CFP: Cofinancing

The Development Grant Facility (DGF) is the Bank’s mechanism to provide direct grant support for innovative GPPs that are of high value to our client countries but cannot be supported adequately through regular Bank country assistance operations or our economic and sector work. The DGF enables the Bank to participate with partners in funding GPPs that support the supply of critical global public goods.

The following are some of the principal programs and accomplishments supported by the DGF:

  • The scientific advances produced by the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) are being applied all over the world, allowing developing countries to increase crop yields and keep food prices low and affordable to the poor.
  • The Affiliated Network for Social Accountability for Africa and East Asia focuses on developing cross-country collaboration on social accountability and demand-side governance initiatives by providing technical assistance on social accountability to different countries and regions.
  • The Consultative Group for Assistance to the Poorest (CGAP) is pioneering best-practice in micro-finance among the very poor.
  • The Global Development Network is increasing the capacity of countries to develop and share economic research and, as a result, take ownership of their economic policies.
  • UNAIDS and Regional Initiatives (UNAIDS) is promoting the development of vaccines that are affordable to the poor who constitute the vast majority of people afflicted with AIDS.

  • Partnership for Child Development (PCD) is working to strengthen the role of the education sector in promoting the health, nutrition - and thus physical and intellectual development - of children, with the specific aim of enhancing the children's educational achievement.
  • The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery program is working to provide technical assistance to develop and implement disaster risk mitigation strategies in countries considered at high risk for natural disasters.
