| The Civil Society Group (CSG) brings together more than 40 staff who work at World Bank Headquarters in Washington at both the regional and departmental levels in various units, geographic regions, funding mechanisms, and with specific constituencies. There are civil society specialists who work within the regional departments providing advice to their regional vice-presidents, formulating regional civil society strategy, and coordinating the work of their country-based civil society staff. Most major World Bank units (e.g. World Bank Institute) and thematic networks (e.g. Sustainable Development, and Poverty Reduction and Economic Management) also have staff responsible for engaging with civil society. There are World Bank staff who interact with specific constituencies such as labor unions, indigenous peoples, faith-based organizations, and foundations. Funding mechanisms such as the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the Development Marketplace also have staff responsible for reaching out to civil society. The CSG meets on a bimonthly basis to exchange information, share experiences, and discuss emerging trends in Bank – civil society relations.
