Online Discussion Seeks to Improve World Bank-Civil Society Engagement

The World Bank – Civil Society Discussion Forum has been set up as an open discussion forum on a draft paper entitled "Issues and Options for Improving Engagement Between the World Bank and Civil Society Organizations (Full Report - PDF 186KB)"The discussion period has been extended through February 13, 2004. 

In order to help frame the discussion, the Bank is interested in responses to the following, specific questions:
  1. Does the analysis in the paper adequately frame the state of global civil society and its relations with the Bank?  If not, what is missing?
  2. Do the four major sets of issues identified in the paper adequately capture the main challenges facing the Bank as it seeks to improve its engagement with civil society organizations?  If not, please explain.
  3. How effectively do the seven priority actions outlined in the paper respond to these four major issues?
  4. Among the range of options outlined in the paper for further discussion, which should the Bank prioritize? 
  5. Are there other issues or options not included in the paper which deserve greater priority?
