The World Bank and Interaction launched a series of technical seminars in early 2006 geared to promoting information exchange, greater mutual understanding, and exploring possibilities for operational collaboration. The underlying theme of the seminars was to share experiences and lessons learned on Bank - civil society collaboration around issues of common interest. The seminars were organized by the Bank's Civil Society Team and InterAction's Secretariat in collaboration with a variety of Bank departments and InterAction member agencies. Speakers included staff from the Bank, CSO, and other donor agencies such as USAID and UN agencies.
The first seminar was held in January 2006 and focused the findings of the Bank's World Development Report 2006 "Equity and Development". The second seminar was held on March 2006 and focused on experiences related to financing CSOs at the local level. The third seminar focused on the role of CSOs in fragile states and held on May 2006. The fourth seminar was held in December 2006 and featured a discussion on how governments, CSOs, and donor agencies can collaborate on disaster relief. The fifth seminar was held in March 2007 and touched on the role of CSOs in a multisectoral approach to fighting HIV/AIDS.
