Environment Strategy 2001 Document

The main goal of the World Bank's Environment Strategy 2001 is to promote environmental improvements as a fundamental element of the development and poverty reduction strategies and actions. The Strategy has three interrelated objectives:

1. Improve people's quality of life
2. Improve the prospects for and the quality of growth
3. Protect the quality of regional and global environmental commons

The Environment Strategy was endorsed by the World Bank Board of Executive Directors on 17 July 2001.
