| Environmental improvement will come not just from interventions directly on environmental issues but also from the incorporation of environmental sensitivities and objectives into the work of other sectors, both in the Bank and in our client countries. This process of "mainsteaming" has been underway for a number of years and was strongly endorsed in the Environment Strategy. One clear indicator of mainstreaming is the prominence given to environmental issues in the Sector Strategy Papers which set out the direction and objectives for the different sector groups in the Bank and which guide the types of investments and other interventions that they implement. Mainstreaming can also be assessed in the extent to which sectoral products include environment as integral topic. The Environment in Sectors subsection presents some sector strategies that complement the Environment Strategy in outlining the World Bank's approach to the environment in the respective areas of work.
